Introduction

Welcome to the Flying Start Northern Edge and Arts Council England Programme for Performing Arts! Arts Council England, the Northern Edge and the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship have joined together to bring this programme to life.

The aim of this programme is to help you take your idea for a social arts business and turn into a reality. All you need is the idea, passion and commitment to make it happen!

It’s a free 12 month programme that begins with a 3 day residential programme to be held at the:

University of Hull, 3rd - 5th September 2007

This programme is for you if you are a final year student who expects to graduate in 2007 or graduate of a UK University (up to 5 years on) planning to start a social enterprise business in the general arts field who has already taken some steps to develop the idea.

Flying Start is geared up to help you make your business happen and will be personally tailored to your needs and aspirations.

If you are 1 of the 40 accepted you will get whatever you need to get bring your idea to fruition; and the support will last for 12 months:

  1. As soon as you’re accepted we’ll help refine and target your idea
  2. Then you’ll come to the 3 day course in Hull
  3. For the following 12 months you will have experienced and expert support and advice to make your enterprise happen!

This programme is free – you don’t pay for the 3 day course or the 12 months of support that you will receive.

You only need to be committed to launching a business which has a social focus within the next 12 months. The minimum amount of time you will be expected to commit to this programmes is a total of 7 days – 3 days for the residential and 4 x 1 day focused follow-up events.
